The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We work in over 100 countries around the world contributing to raising the quality of education in schools and supporting multilingual education. Our work emphasises the importance of carefully considered and balanced approaches to language in education.

We supported the Silver Jubilee of UNESCO's International Mother Language Day, convening experts and guests, who took part in panels across the two-day event. The event brought together ministers and experts from around the world to explore the importance of multilingual education. We are delighted to support the publication of UNESCO's new Global Guidance on Multilingual Education.
